Zig ist das Synonym für ‘face right’, zag für ‘face left’. Wenn beide Figuren gleichzeitig angesagt werden, dreht sich der leading dancer in die zuerst genannte Richtung, während sich der trailing dancer in die zweite Richtung dreht. Wird nur eine Figur angesagt, gilt diese nur für die leading Tänzer; die trailing dancer drehen sich dann nicht. Die Kombinationen zag zig, zig zig, zag zag sind ebenfalls möglich.

From anywhere there are leads and trailers: Zig means Face Right, and Zag means Face Left. When given in a pair, as in Tag the Line Zig Zag, the call applies to a group of two dancers; each leader does the first (Zig in this case), and each trailer does the second (Zag in this case).
